Jeaveau

Jeaveau is new botulinum and a competitor to Botox®.  It works in almost exactly the same way and is injected into the muscles of expression.  In the forehead, the “11” lines between the eyebrows and the crow’s feet are common areas. However, the manufacturing process is different. Many physicians believe Jeaveau is made is a purer process without accessory proteins that can diminish effectiveness, length of effect and antibody formation.  In our experience, it seems to be very effective and lasts a little longer.

We have also used Jeaveau off-label for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in the armpits and palms.  We have even used for masseter hypertrophy (think people who grind their teeth).  We have switched many patients over from Botox® to Jeaveau without any decrease in efficacy.  Many of these patients felt that the original Botox® wasn’t lasting as long.

After treatment, there is minimal downtime. There may be small swelling son the forehead for 15 minutes but Jeaveau like all tox products last 10-15 minutes. Most patients see improvement in 2-5 days. Results usually last 4 months but patients often return in 6 months as it does not fully wear off at the 4-month point.  We specialize in both men and woman.   Men typically want a flatter smooth brow while women may want an arch or curve to their brow.  We specialize in a natural look so you will have expression and not a “frozen” face.  Treatment can typically be accomplished in a 15-minute appointment and then you are free to go. We ask that you do not rub the area for 24 hours

Side effects are uncommon but are common to the class of neuromodulators known as botulinum toxin.   There may be spread to the upper eyelid causing a drooping known as ptosis.  There are rare reports of generalized muscle weakness, diplopia, blurred vision, dysphagia, dysphonia and breathing difficulties.
