Don’t Sweat It: The Truth Behind Hyperhidrosis

Sweating is a natural part of life, especially when you are either nervous or if you have just participated in a gruelling workout. However, if you notice that you sweat profusely from areas such as your underarms ,to the point where even a stronger deodorant isn’t working, then you may be suffering from a medical condition called hyperhidrosis. What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a disease that causes excessive sweating across your body, in areas such as your hands, feet, underarms, or even your face. Hyperhidrosis occurs when the nerves in your body that tell your body to sweat out toxins and to cool it down, overreact and overproduce sweat.

How is it caused?
There are many factors that may contribute to hyperhidrosis including the following:

  • Genetics: If you have a family history of hyperhidrosis.
  • Diseases: Certain diseases like diabetes or gout may be contributors.
  • Medications: As a side effect to certain medications, your sweating may be induced by what you are consuming.
